The Cwm Hedd Fishery is one of the fly fishing venues in the United Kingdom. It is very accessible from the main highway M4 Junction 28, 8 miles from Cardiff, 2 hours from London, and 30 minutes drive from the Cardiff International Airport. In this fishery, there are novice and main lakes, which have two accessible, beautiful islands. The ‘Lodge Pond’ or novice lake is highly stocked with rainbows weighing around 1¼ to 1¾ pounds.
The fishery is open from 8 a.m. until dusk during Wednesday to Saturday. The perfect fishing season here is summer, depending on the temperature of the water. The species that are available to be caught in this fishery are primarily rainbow trout, as well as blue trout, tiger trout, and brown trout. The facilities at the venue are a fishing lodge, bank fishing, handicapped access, food and drink, tackle shop, tackle hire, and toilets. The fishery has friendly staff and offers great prices, and the facilities are well maintained. The comfortable lodge provides a wood-burning kitchen stove, with cold and hot beverages and food served throughout the day. It has a large car park within access of the lodge and lakes. A car park is also provided for disabled persons, with full access to the side of the lake from the car park and the lodge. There are pathways with handrails and seven wooden platforms suitable for wheelchairs. There is a wheely boat platform and a 6-feet-wide tarmac footpath across the lakes. The comfort rooms in the lodge are provided for disabled, gents, and ladies. Visitors will surely have a great time fishing in this lovely place.
