Owned by Nick Brewin and Penny Brewin, Fairoak Fishery is a one of the stillwater trout fisheries located in the peaceful and secluded area of Wye Valley. The area is only two miles away from Tintern, and four miles from Junction 22 of the M48. The water of the fishery is supplied by spring water from Fedw Wood. The common fish caught in the area is the tropical trout, which measures from a minimum of 21 lb ( 9.5 kg) up to twice this figure. The fish are locally reared and are of top quality.
The abundance of tiny natural and dry flies, as well as the clear water, justifies the ideal patterns of fishing in the fishery. Lodges and toilets are available for anglers, in addition to a free mug of coffee or tea while booking and tackling. The regular stocking policy of the fishery results in a consistent number of splendid fish and the prevention of instability of stocking.
Fairoak Fishery is open from eight in the morning until dusk every day, except Christmas Day. Besides the two 3-acre lakes, a small pond containing one pound of the same quality fish is also provided by the fishery for novice and practise fishing. The pond allows novices to learn and to master their techniques and skills before proceeding to the actual fishing grounds.
For a short-break accommodation in the fishery, local arrangements with the owner can be made. It also provides tackle for hire.
